Details
This Martin D-28 Authentic 1941 was made in Nazareth, Pa., in 2013. It’s in excellent, lightly played condition and shows just the slightest amount of fret wear. The back and sides are made from Madagascar rosewood and the top is Adiriondack spruce with Martin’s torrefied VTS treatment.
Being a replica of a 1941 D-28, it has a nut width of 1 11/16” and rearward-shifted scalloped X-Braces. Like the 1941 originals, this D-28 has the steel T-bar neck reinforcement, hot animal hide glue assembly, ‘tucked-in” bridge plate, and a new final hand-applied finishing regime Martin recently re-introduced that leaves a brand new guitar with a pleasant patina. (It’s not a distressed finish, but instead has a warm glow without that high-gloss glare.) This guitar has the rumble and roar that made Martin's original versions the stuff of legend among flat pickers.
Although the bass response and overall volume is what first catches your ear, this example also has a treble clarity and balance that's often missing in pre-war style rosewood Dreadnoughts. Includes the original special Authentic Series case that is in equally clean condition.
