This 2016 ’61 Reissue ES-330 is a great example of a somewhat recent vintage reissue from Gibson’s Memphis factory, before it was shut down and the production of their semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars was moved to Nashville. This Limited-Edition example is fitted with a Bigsby vibrato and also has some really attractive flame maple on the top and throughout the body.
The pickups have been swapped for a pair of Lindy Fralin Hum-Cancelling Alnico P-90s. These are great-sounding pickups that use Alnico rod magnets, giving them a ton of clarity and fullness without the same single-coil hum that is common with traditional P-90s. The original Gibson P-90s are included in the case if you ever want to return the guitar back to stock.
This guitar is in great structural condition, but it has been played and shows light playwear throughout. It is a great-sounding and great-playing example, with plenty of sustain and that unmistakable fully hollow “bloom” that these guitars are known for. The Bigsby also adds a lot of expression to the guitar without taking away from what makes an ES-330 what it is. It includes its original hardshell case along with the original Gibson pickups.
