Details
The formal title of this lovely guitar is the Gibson Memphis 1961 ES-330 Figured, but we’re all friends here so you can just call it the ES-330. As the name suggests, this guitar is a replica of a 1961 version with a figured maple top. It has a blond, or natural finish. It’s fitted with a pair of P-90s, which have the classic chunky but still crisp tone the pickups are famous for. Gibson went to great lengths to nail every detail on these VOS (Vintage Original Spec) models, so this reissue doesn't have a paper label or a serial number. Instead it has an ink-stamped FON (Factory Order Code) under the treble side f-hole, with a Q prefix, just like the original '61 ES-330 models. And like the original ES-330s, it's a true thin hollow-body, with no center block as found in the ES-335 models. This keeps the weight down to barely over 6 lbs, and also results in a nice acoustic practice tone, a rare treat on a thin hollow body electric with a pickup near the bridge. This has been played a bit so there are some finger scuffs to the pickguard. Almost zero fret wear, a couple tiny marks to the lacquer on the back if you get it under really bright light. From the neck shape to the true P-90s tone, this is an excellent reissue of an iconic American electric. Comes with the COA and its original black case with a yellow interior.
