Now here’s a rare banjo, a used Pisgah. (Folks just don’t want to give them up one they get one.) This Wonder was made in 2017 and it’s in excellent, lightly played condition with just a hint of fret wear. Pisgah’s Wonder is an homage to the Little Wonder, Vega’s workhorse model from the early part of the 20th century. The maple shell is fitted with a Little Wonder tone ring, a lightweight design that adds a bit of clarity to the tone without getting too bright. This example has a 11” head, which gives the banjo an extra dose of clarity and punch.
The Wonder sports a number of subtle cosmetic elements that give the banjo a fancy but not flashy look. The headstock has an elegant silhouette with an inlaid marquetry star. The metal hardware has an aged brass finish, the maple neck has a dark stain and the Richlite fretboard has a frailing scoop. The original hardshell case is in equally clean condition.
