The 290 is Collings’ tribute to the working musician’s rock guitar of the mid-’50s through early ’60s. This particular example was custom-ordered by us a few years back. Like a traditional 290, it features a solid mahogany body and neck, but we opted for a pair of Lollar Imperial humbuckers in place of the usual P-90s. This makes this instrument very versatile and packs a serious punch whether you’re playing clean, or using some overdrive. It is in exceptionally clean condition, showing minimal signs of playwear. The frets are in excellent shape as well, with very little evidence of use. This is an easy playing double-humbucker with a great sound and finished in a classic color. It comes with its original hardshell case.
