This Goldtop VOS Standard is an excellent modern take on the classic ’57. It’s lightweight, resonant, and has great action with an extremely comfortable chunky “C” neck. Collectors often describe the “Dark Back” on these models, referring to the mahogany tint on the back and neck, and this one seems to have the perfect balance, not too dark or too light. The defining “Double Gold” finish is a deeper gold and gives the carved top a more metallic sheen that shifts with the contours depending on where you look. The unpotted AlNiCo III Custombuckers deliver an authentic PAF-style sound in every position. If you’re after a resonant, great-playing, and great-looking Les Paul, this might be the one.
