Details
Martin first gave the "vintage appointments" upgrade seen here to their venerable D-18 a few years ago, and the result was Gryphon's best-selling made-in-USA Dreadnought. The 000-18 was next to get the same treatment, then the 00-18, but the 0-18 shown here is even more exciting because Martin hasn't offered a stock 0-size 14-fret guitar in years. As with the other Style 18 models, appointments include an ebony fingerboard and bridge, faux tortoiseshell binding and pickguard (celluloid), and lightweight open-back tuners. The top is given 1/4" scalloped X pattern bracing, and the mahogany is given a more transparent, warm brown stain. The result is a small, tuck-under-your-arm Martin with a remarkably big sound. Great for songwriting, easier to carry around, the perfect steel-string for anyone who likes to hug their guitar rather than climb over it just to get to the strings.
