The Pisgah Possum has walnut for the neck and shell and Persimmon for both the fingerboard and tone ring. Using wood for tone rings has become more popular in recent years as it takes the edge of the sound that a metal tone ring can produce. The 12-inch head also mellows the tone a bit, giving it a pleasing woody tone.
