Details
This is a one-owner, all original L-5 except for the pickguard and pickup covers, replaced by Gary Brauer (the original covers and mounting screws succumbed to oxidation caused by the off-gassing of the original celluloid 'guard as it deteriorated). Original frets show only light wear, which suggests the owner had a light touch as this L-5 has been played so it shows light finish dings and scuffs here and there. With the exception of the original pickguard, it is free of many of the issues you often see on Gibsons from this period: there is only a little light checking to the lacquer, mostly on the back, and the multi-ply binding is still tightly glued with no signs of cracking or shrinkage. For a 50+ years old Gibson that has been played, it's in exceptional condition. Comes with the original hardshell case, with Gibson's instructional booklet plus a packet full of Gibson flat picks and even the key to the case.
