Details
People have been putting Jazz Bass necks on P-Basses for about as long as the Jazz Bass has been in the Fender catalog. Fender’s Custom Shop has always done a great job of offering thoughtful recreations of these kinds of “Frankenstein” mods, and this one really is no exception. For players who love the slimmer 1 1/2" nut width of a J-Bass neck but still want the punchy, beefy tone of a P-Bass, this is an ideal marriage of the two, and then some. The neck pickup (under the cover) is a hand-wired ’57 P-Bass, paired with a hand-wired Vintage J-Bass bridge pickup. Together, they cover a ton of tonal ground and can handle just about any style that calls for electric bass. The black nitrocellulose lacquer finish is aged just right, giving it a great broken-in look and feel. The lightweight ash body makes it especially comfortable to play standing with a strap. If you after an all-around versatile Fender bass, this a great vintage-style option that can truly do it all. It comes with its original Fender tweed hardshell case.
