Details
Here’s a clean example of a mid-’70s Gibson bluegrass banjo that won’t cost you your three picking fingers. This 1974 RB-250 is largely original, with the exception of the tailpiece, which has been swapped for a Presto. The frets have plenty of life left and show very little wear, and both the finish and nickel plating are in excellent condition overall. Typical of RB-250s from this era, it features the fiddle-style peghead with the leaves and bows inlays, a mahogany neck and resonator, and a flathead tone ring that delivers that familiar Mastertone sound. It’s punchy, focused, and well suited for bluegrass playing. Railroad spikes were added for the 5th string at the 7th, 9th, and 12th frets. It comes with its original hardshell case featuring the silver Gibson logo, which is in good shape overall, showing only light tarnish on the latches.
