Details
There has been a resurgence of the square-shoulder dreadnought in the Taylor Guitars catalog in the last two years. We first saw the reissue of the 810e for their Legacy series in 2024, and now Taylor has teamed up with Trey Hensley for the first signature guitar in Taylor’s new Gold Label series. Hensley is an accomplished flatpicking virtuoso who can play just about any playing style you throw at him. The features of the Gold Label guitars are an obvious choice for a guitar fit for bluegrass flatpicking, and just about everything else. This 510e Gold Label’s deeper body provides more low-end and project, while the mahogany back and sides give the loud and punchy midrange for leads. The fanned V-bracing allows the top to vibrate more, giving it a warm and woody tone. The torrefied spruce top adds to the woodiness and gives it a nicely broken-in tone. And just like the rest of the Gold Label guitars, this one features the Action Control Neck, which makes adjusting the neck angle a breeze. This is one of those models that truly speaks for itself, and no matter what style you throw at it, it seems to handle it all. It comes in the new Gold Label Hardshell case in British Coco.
