The Silver Sky is the result of a close collaboration between John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith and is a fresh take on the tried-and-true Strat-style guitar. The headstock shape is inspired by the classic 3-on-a-side PRS silhouette. This particular Silver Sky has a maple fingerboard with a comfortable profile that PRS describes as being similar to the original 635JM neck shape but being "subtly modified in the shoulders to feel more “rounded”. This modified profile pairs excellently with the vintage inspired 7.25" radius offering the curvature of an old-time fingerboard with a vintage-meets-moderns feel of the maple neck.
It’s fitted with a trio of PRS's 635JM single coil pickups, locking tuners, and a steel tremolo with Gen III knife-edge screws. The 635JM single-coil pickups are very round and full, with a chiming musical high end. With the plastic film still on the original pickguard and only a whisper of wear to the frets, it's safe to say that this instrument hasn’t seen much play. Likewise, the top is in excellent condition, with only the tiniest instances of light scratching.
