Details
The 470 JL is the second model Collings has designed in collaboration with Julian Lage, and, if it’s possible, it’s even nicer than the first, the OM1 JL. The 470 JL is inspired by the Gretsch Jet series of guitars from the 1950s, and like those classic instruments, it is chambered, making it lightweight and very responsive. (The body is solid mahogany and the top is laminated maple.) It’s fitted with a pair of custom wound Ron Ellis 'Ellisonic' pickups, which have all the focused clarity of a vintage Dynasonic pickup, but with an extended frequency response and greater harmonic content. This example has a nitrocellose lacquer with black top and subtle aging. Includes a hardshell case.
