Among Gibson oval-hole A model mandolins, the A2-Z has almost legendary status and has a long list of desirable features earlier A models lack. For starters:
More narrow fingerboard (same as F-5 models)
Snakehead headstock (strings running in straight line from nut to tuning posts).
Maple back and sides (instead of birch)
Adjustable truss rod.
This example is all original except for new frets and a replacement tailpiece in the proper style. No cracks, only surface wear to the finish. Lots of tonal power and projection, if you like oval-soundhole tone but find Gibson's earlier A models often a bit lacking this A2-Z will bring a smile.
