Details
One of our favorite Martin models of recent years was the 12-fret 000-28VS, which, sadly, has been retired. As good as it sounded, and it sounded really good, a lot of players found the long 25.4” scale and 1 13/16” nut width a bit of a handful. We wondered if a 12-fret 000 would sound as good with a shorter 24.9” scale and a 1 3/4” would sound as good and we’re happy to report that it does and it’s easier to play, which is an added bonus. We ordered this model with the classic herringbone purfling, a slotted headstock, and a pyramid bridge, just like the models from the 1920s. The top is Sitka spruce, with Martin’s VTS torrefaction treatment, which gives the guitar’s tone a touch of vintage sparkle. All in all, we are very pleased with the way this guitar turned out. If you have any ideas for a custom Martin of your own, please get in touch. We’d love to help find the guitar of your dreams.
