Details
This Kamaka HF-3 2DI tenor ukulele was made in 2016, Kamaka’s 100th anniversary, and it has the special headstock inlay commemorating the milestone they only used that year. We only get a tiny number of these deluxe models every year and we almost never have clean, used examples like this one. The 2DI is Kamaka’s fanciest style and they reserve their finest figured koa for these instruments. (The letter I in the model name stands for 'ipuka, a Hawaiian word for an opening that lets light shine through. Kamaka named it for the slotted headstock.) The top and soundhole are ringed with abalone, which adds a lovely frame around the highly figured koa.
The HF-3 tenor, in all its variations, is our best-selling Kamaka ukulele, hands down. We think this model's versatility is part of the reason. It sounds great with the traditional "my dog has fleas" tuning but it also works well with the Low G tuning, as well. Thanks to the longer scale, the frets on a tenor uke are a little further apart, so complex chords are easier to finger as there's more room, making tenor uke the most popular switch for guitar players. It's simple, if you play any fretted instrument, or if you're just starting to, you'll find a use for a fine-sounding tenor like this one. The Kamaka tenor is the does-anything-and-does-it-well ukulele. Includes the original hardshell case, which is in equally clean condition.
