Details
Martin's Custom Shop went a bit outside their usual playbook for this maple Grand Jumbo and the results proved them right for both visually and tonally it's a maple Martin that covers a lot of basses. For starters the birdseye maple and bear-claw spruce are a treat, so the pearl bordered top and rosette don't quite steal the show. All the binding is rosewood, with a nice rosewood center-strip on the maple neck.
While this is a big Martin, it measures 17-inches across the lower bout, you don't have to get carried away with your right hand to get plenty of volume. However the size, and the maple, gives you lots of headroom should you need it. It's kind of amazing how much this guitar can deliver without sounding overdriven or forced, instead it just seems like the room gets a little smaller! Exceptional condition throughout, including the case.
