Details
Bob Taylor & crew were making great sounding and playing guitars 50 years ago, and when those models have enjoyed reasonable care over the years they still play and sound exceptional. These Legacy models offer you a chance to get the sound and vibe of the original Taylors, with some contemporary tweaks than even the most hardened originalist will agree are improvements that Bob would have included back then if he could. The 810 was Taylor's Dreadnought powerhouse, and was designed to hold up under the rigors of travel and stage use. This Legacy 810e has that road-worthy capacity, but is equally at home on a stand in your music room waiting for songwriting and practice sessions.
This 810e Special Edition tweaks that classic design in some intriguing ways. The first is that has a short 24 7/8” scale length, which makes the guitar. a little easier to play because the strings are under less tension and the frets are a little close together. This also gives the guitar a slightly mellower tone. Cosmetically, it has a nice sunburst and the “Cindy” inlay fretboard inlay, which Bob Taylor originally designed as a gift for his wife in Taylor’s earliest days.
Crafted with Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a Sitka spruce top, this model has a big, commanding sound full of warmth, sparkle and blooming overtones powered by Bob Taylor's version of traditional X-bracing. Subtle updates include a modern Taylor neck profile offering relaxed fretting and simple adjustability, along with a slightly newer version of the Dreadnought body that still dates back to Taylor's earlier days. Appointments recall the original details of early 800 Series guitars, including white binding, a three-ring rosette in green abalone, mother-of-pearl Large Diamond fretboard inlays, a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard, and ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots. This Legacy guitar includes an undersaddle LR Baggs Element VTC pickup with soundhole-mounted controls. It ships with a deluxe hardshell case and sports a specially designed Legacy interior label.
